The Greenwood House by Michael Hackenberg has an excellent coverage of
the technology of working with green wood.  Michael says he likes his
wood "Fresh from the sawmill".  There are ways of controlling the wood
as it shrinks, not fighting against it, controlling warpage and twist or
splitting.  Chiefly about judicious use of fasteners in the right place,
and knowing when not to fasten.  

The really good news is, it is only available used, but Amazon has
copies available for $0.96.  That will be the best buck you've ever
invested if you are building with green wood.
