I'll try resending this then...

When we get our list back, I will be curious to learn how to find
discussions that may lie 4-6 years back in the GB list archives. We had a
rollicking discussion about the effects turning CFLs on and off a lot has on
(a) energy consumption) and (b) bulb life, but due both to the
unavailability of the archives at the moment and to (my) past difficulties
going back this far (related to a shift in how/under whose auspices the
archives were kept?) I ask for your help.

And yes, I tried the Wayback Machine (www.archive.org).
