[Greenbuilding] [Fwd: CFL bulbs]

LED's are coming along. I have seen some in the listings that appear, like
CFL's, to be offered with an "bulb" around them. The main advantages are, no
heat, very low energy requirements and up to 60,000 hours lifetime. I am an
avid outdoorsman, backpacker, hiker camper, and I enjoy night hiking under
the stars and moonscape. I have a new four "bulb" LED "head" light that has
an elastic band so you can wear it like an sweat bandana on your forehead.
It has a couple AAA batteries. They last for months of night hiking
excursions. The light is "bluish", but bright and clear, and after a while I
don't notice the slight blue tint. I'm preparing to sell this home and in
the new construction we'll have LED's fer sure. As well as geothermal, solar
PV, solar water heating, solar air heating and other systems.

How are LEDs in terms of the *quality* of light? In my limited experience,
they seem to throw off an even harsher/colder light than CFLs. Other
opinions?
