[Greenbuilding] [Fwd: CFL bulbs]

Fiberoptics illuminated during the day by the SUN and at night use LED's.
No energy use during the day in dark areas of your home where the sun
doesn't reach. A simple sunlight concentrator on the roof (curved shinny
material aimed at the fiberoptic bundle will amplify the sunlight....which
exceeds halogen except in comparisons where the halogen is concentrated by
the sun isn't. Try a comparison to concentrated sunlight....star power
exceeds manpower....why not use it wisely...certainly a no-brainer)

I've had running debates on whether fiber optics should be considered an
energy saving technology or not. The fiber optic tubes are not, in
themselves, light sources; they are just transmitters. So it seems to me
that the energy efficiency lies in the light source (daylight or metal
halide or whatever) and how the light is dispersed by the fiber optics.

A fiber optic system, it seems to me, with a halogen or (egads) an
incandescent light source, is still an inefficient light source.
