The one system I've seen out there that uses solar for fiberoptic
lighting (sort of a remote light tube technology) uses 2-axis tracking
collectors on their fiberoptic roof collector. Now, they couldn't have
resorted to that complicated, expensive technology without due
consideration, so I imagine that, to get sufficient solar insolation of
your fiberoptics, you have to really work at it... I could find the
links if anyone were unduly interested. Looked like an expensive and
fragile system to me.
