Ken;

To answer one of your questions, if you hold a match up to the  
triple(?)-glazed IGU , you will see six reflections of the flame in the  
glass. (Four if they are double-glazed).

If the images are all identical in colour, then there are no Low-E  
coatings present.

If one  of the images are different, then that is due to there being a  
Low-E coating.
If two of them are different, well, you know.

And although you didn't ask, I think that it would be better to use double  
glazing rather than single, as you had indicated.

The separated panes can be re-assembled as double glazing, with dry seals  
(ie neoprene glazing channels, compressed) and then detail the inner pane  
as the air barrier.
