I know nothing about this "Al Pex" guy nor this position that he's running
for
and as seems to be typical in Murrican politics, the debate appears to
have degraded to focussing upon personalities rather than issues.

Quite frankly, I don't understand why that other "Al" (the Gorey one)
wouldn't be a shoe-in.

And I don't know anything about active solar systems either (which also
seems to be a uniquely Murrican pre-occupation -- we MooseHuggers tend to
lean towards being passive solar types)-- but in thinking about materials
that would be suitable for moving very hot liquids about in environments
that may be subject to freezing, I can't help but think about the rad
hoses on the autos that are sitting outside in minus 20 degree weather
(and sometimes in minus 40 degree weather), sometimes for weeks or months
at a time without being fired up (as in my case)and then when they are
fired up, are subjected to temperatures that can exceed the boiling point
of water in very short time.

Is there something wrong with using the same material for the lines of
active solar systems ?

As for insulation, (I saw that someone mentioned EPS might melt) would
high density Roxul mineral wool work ?

Roxul certainly wouldn't pose any concerns WRT exposure to high
temperatures (one of the favourite tricks of Roxul reps is to hold a
propane torch directly onto a slab of Roxul while nonchalantly yakking
away about the benefits of Roxul insulations) ... and if the fluid lines
should spring a leak ($#!+ happens. Right ?) Roxul would be immune.

I would also consider wrapping the whole schmozzle in a reflective foil.

And speaking of bizarre political scenarios, I was flabberghasted when
listening to a news report on the radio, where a politician in Pakistan
was saying that Benazir Bhutto herself was to blame for being assassinated
because she chose to expose herself from the armoured vehicle in which she
was riding. [
