PEX only works for low temperature systems like Dawn Solar.
Copper is still the best, most practical choice.
Rob Tom's radiator hose suggestion just might work. The only thing I can
think might be an issue is contamination in an open loop system (no heat
exchanger to storage tank).
As for insulation use at least R-5, but more is better especially if it
is outside.
Always protect insulation from UV light when outside, use aluminum foil,
tape, or covers.
Rob likes Roxul because it is less energy intense than foam insulation,
fireproof, and can get wet. (I'm guessing)
