Before Christmas we had an ice storm here in Kansas that knocked out
electricity for weeks for some country folks.  Our local garage told me that
some people were paying $40/day for generator fuel.  Some people had to
completely abandon their homes with antifreeze in the toilets and a
generator to keep things barely above freezing.   SL
