Enter in your local cost of fuel: Multiply by: Your cost per 1 Million
BTU's:
   Electricity at .086 per KWH X 293 = $25.20
No. 2 Oil per Gallon X 9.61 = $0.00
Propane per Gallon X 13.32 = $0.00
Natural Gas @ 1.02 per Therm X 12.5 = $12.75
Pellets per Ton X .089 = $0.00
Cord Wood per Cord X .073 = $0.00

Determine the amount of BTU's required to heat your home per month (this
can vary greatly depending on region, home insulation, heat use, etc.).
What's my climate zone?
Climate Size of Home BTUs Required per Month
Mild Winter Zone 1500 Sq. Ft. 1.5 Million
Mild Winter Zone 2500 Sq. Ft. 2.5 Million
Moderate Winter Zone 1500 Sq. Ft. 3 Million
Moderate Winter Zone 2500 Sq. Ft. 5 Million
Severe Winter Zone 1500 Sq. Ft. 5 Million
Severe Winter Zone 2500 Sq. Ft. 8 Million

Calculate the present cost of heating and the new cost of heating if you
are considering a different type of fuel by multiplying the cost per million
BTU's (C) for the type of fuel used, by the amount of BTU's required per
month (D). Make sure to check your present heating bill against the amount
of BTU's required per month to make sure the amount is correct.
       X =
ElectricityNo. 2 OilPropaneNatural GasPelletsCord Wood ?
(X 1 Million) $0.00
Present Heating Source

 BTU's Required per Month

 Present Cost of Heating

    X =
 ElectricityNo. 2 OilPropaneNatural GasPelletsCord Wood
(X 1 Million) $0.00
New Heating Source BTU's Required per Month New Cost of Heating

Subtract the new heating cost from your present heating cost to determine
savings.
       _ =
$0.00 $0.00 $0.00
Present Cost of Heating New Cost of Heating Savings

I wrote a web page which will do the calculations for you. Just enter
your prices and efficiencies.
