I think your example is reasonable. I also recall seeing numbers purporting
to be averages between 4 and 7 toilet flushes per person per day. However,
although calculations meant to show savings from this or that device or
gadget still commonly assume it, the average US household hasn't been four
people for decades. My favorite census bureau statistic is that fully 60% of
US households now consist of either one or two persons.
My point was simply that under no circumstances I can imagine do any of
these numbers get us to 35 flushes per household per day. On top of that, I
suspect RMI didn't share my assumption of every flush using the small
button.
