Nick:

What do you think of the idea of using double sheetrock to achieve some
mass in an otherwise conventional frame house? Would that be an
effective way of getting some interior mass? Or do you think it would
be a waste of time?

I'm working with a fellow who is playing with passive solar in a
manufactured home. The idea of installing massive concrete floors is
pretty much out, because these things have to roll down a road and over
bridges with weight limits, on a reasonable-sized trailer. We had
thought that using quarry tile floors in the living (sunny) areas, and
then double sheetrock, would be about the best we could do.
