<argh.
Yet another thing to cause fear among the population. We've become so hyper
sensitized to everything.>

As a young boy, I recall my father demonstrating for me the marvels of a
bead of quicksilver, taken from a broken light switch. He bragged about how
he played with it as a child--the mischievous sort, he probably broke
thermometers deliberately to obtain it. We'd roll the stuff from hand to
hand, across the kitchen table, and watch it splatter when it escaped and
fell to the floor. of course it would clump right back up, when you pushed
the individual beads together. My toddler brother must have gotten into the
act. It probably made its way to school. Goodness knows what orifices it
found its way into.

Perhaps coincidentally, my father died at age 47, a completely paralyzed,
shriveled husk of a man, of an unusually severe and aggressive case of MS.
I'm for the most part a healthy and active 58. My brother is a vigorous 54.
But I've always wondered about the possible connection...
