No, I just added the part about one personal experience because
others were speaking of their own. As I originally stated, my opinion
is based on information from consumer reports. When my friend had all
his problems, I looked at consumer reports, and the VW TDI was listed
under "worst used cars". Their recommendations are based on surveys of
owners (I don't know the number of owners offhand,, but I am certain
it is a larger group than either one of us know). Therefore, most
owners would have had negative experiences, and the reliability,
statistically, is inferior to most others.
I don't believe anyone should make the decision to buy a car based on
a few people's experiences, and i do not know a more reliable, less
biased source than consumer reports. The other main issue i discussed,
considering the variables of mileage, versus horsepower, versus fuel
cost, are factual.
I, myself, feel a natural gas vehicle may make more sense, depending
on your region.
