Leanne;
I'm just in a cold climate (~8750 HDD/yr) and not an extremely cold one
but we have composted for, well, forever.
In winter for us it's simply a matter of having more bins to accommodate
the frozen material which will resume its composting activity when the
weather warms up again in Spring. Hungry critters don't seem to be a
problem. The big ones are hibernating and the little ones can't open the
lids.
I suppose that one could dig a pit and cover it with tempered patio door
glass to make a pit greenhouse of sorts and perhaps use night insulation
but that seems like a lot of bother IMO.
Or I suppose one could do indoor vermicomposting.
Other than that, where to look ? My bet would be that Google might yield
something.
Or perhaps Jenkins' Humanure Book ?
