I've come to understand that over time the copper content of recycled
steel has been rising world wide, largely because there is no
practical way to separate it out. The way it gets in there is that it
is so ubiquitous in all the electrical motors we pack into cars,
appliances and sundry other devices made of steel--and then scrapped.
I believe this is a pretty important issue in the world of steel
recycling, but would be curious to learn from someone who knows more
about this what the future holds.
