[Greenbuilding] Whole-House energy monitoring

I think that the "smart house" of the future should have real-time  
energy and water monitoring: electricity, gas, and water. A display  
could show how much was used in the last month, last week, today, and  
how much is being used at present. Before leaving the house for the  
day you could take a look at the monitor and see that something was  
left on.

Water usage would be a huge benefit during times of rationing, which  
is what we're heading into in California.
