[Greenbuilding] Water Coolers

I can't imagine water coolers are the best use of energy in buildings
that are supposed to be 'green'.  I suppose they would reduce bottled
water use, but running all the time, cooling water of which most goes
down the drain?

Your thoughts and alternatives would be greatly appreciated.
