[Greenbuilding] Hot water return

Or you could use an on demand re_circulator like grundfoss or metlund, insulate the pipes and stop wasting water waiting for the hot water to get to the fixture...
Most building labeling programs recognize this strategy as a water conservation measure

I'm with Corwyn on this.My parents have a solar hot water system. Their
plumber convinced them to add a hot water return system and unfortunately,
they didn't consult me before spending $$$. That system wasted all their
heat so that when they actually wanted to use the solar heated water, the
water in the tank was tepid.
While not scientific, this tells me that they bled away all those solar
collected BTUs circulating the hot water. Before they installed the system,
the solar system worked great, no problem with hot water storage.
