Yeah, or even if the motion detector is more fussy & you have to be  
at the sink, what if you don't need hot water?  Like brushing your  
teeth, or giving something a quick rinse.  Heck, in the summer, the  
tap water is warm enough for most washing uses, so I frequently don't  
use the hot water while I'm at the sink, whatever I'm doing.
