A good use for old refrigerators & freezers is for seed-starting--you
can put it outside or in a potting shed and stick an incandescent light
bulb in them for heat. With a little bit of experimentation and/or a
temperature sensor switch, the insulated box keeps it just the right
temperature for seeds to sprout. After the little seedlings emerge,
they need to be immediately removed where they get light. Works like a
charm....
A friend of mine is building a cob house and she buried an old freezer
in the floor. She plans to use it as a sort of cellar.
