Dear Steve
>What wattage fan.
A CPU fan, and a Power Supply fan. I think that would benefit the most
people on this list. They are avalable all over the place. I am not sure
the power but about 2 watts if I remember the discussion on little gasifiers
correctly.
>What typical supply volts.
They are 3.5 and 5 volts aren't they? That us a Laptop CPU fan. The big
power supply fans are 12 volts as far as I know.
>...and do you want to run to 0 speed and 100% speed, or will
>5 and 95% be OK.
I think 10-90 would be very acceptable.
>Are you terribly concerned about power efficiency ?
Yes - that is the point. In order to justify buying parts it has to save
power over a pot.
There are so many applications for this....if we get the parts affordable
(they are out there but too expensive) we can run a fan on the stove power
to create quite a bit more stove power, if you get my drift.
Once I have lights and electricity I have control over my environment. I am
asking an off-list group for ideas about generating a small amount of power
in a novel way. That will help too.

Crispin
