Subject: [Stoves] Motor speed controls

Dear Electronicos

I beg everyones indulence to go slightly off subject while we're talking
about DC Motor speed controls. I would like to ask assistance with a
problem. I need to build a speed control to replace a burned out unit
(since lost) that my dad built years ago for a drill press used for drilling
and tapping threaded holes. With the standard drill press pulley set-up he
used to be able to make the spindle crawl at about 4 rpm with good torke.

The motor is a MINACON dc motor rated at 1/3 hp, 90 VDC, 1800 RPM, 3.4 AMP.

If anybody has some ideas on where to find a speed control design that might
do the trick, please drop me line off the listserv.

Best regards,

Robert-
