OK let's cool it.
In my reply to Tom Reed about Vellerman kits I was referring just to
the instance of speed controlling a cheap vacuum cleaner for use as a
blower, I was not advocating using it to control anything else just
pointing out that there are vellerman kits available for a number of
uses as well as the one Greg had pointed out.
I should have made it clear my crocodile clip-nichrome wire variable
resistor is only suitable for the 12V circuits running a small
centrifugal blower.
Steve's business is for quality flow measuring equipment in harsh
environments, there's no possibility of using anything short of the
safest and best products for this, because standards have to be met
and the customer won't buy sub standard.
I have zero budget for my experiments so I cast around for whatever I
can make do with, I'm content to do that.
