[Stoves] Blow-suggestions without electricity

Dear Friends

I agree with Dean on this one. The South African experience is that every
household is entitled to 50 KWH of free electricity as a human right.

The best managers of this power are the recipients who know when to turn off
the TV and lights each night so that at the end of the month, they use 50
units and not a watt more.

It looks as if small amounts of power are increasingly available to 'poor'
households.

I also note that is rather unreliable power compared with wealthier
neighbourhoods, especially when everyone turns on their electric cooker.
Brownouts, blackouts.

Even downtown Dakar has blackouts lasting for hours, often in the evening.
That means a charging system with a battery will be more popular than a
straight power supply

Regards
Crispin

Dear Tom,

After visiting China and India this year I think that we should also factor
into our fan stove designs that a sizeable percentage of even rural wood
stove users are connected to the grid.

All Best,

Dean
