Dear Tom,
Can we still contribute to the list?
In Malawi in 2006 app. 1000 Rocket Stoves where built and sold. Besides a
few household stoves (60) the majority of stoves is used for institutional
cooking. The pot sizes for these institutional stoves varies from stoves for
20 Liter pots up to stoves for 250 Liter pots.
In 2006 there are three big customers:
1. World Food Programme - 356 stoves (110Liter pot) 2. GTZ Basic Education
Program - 295 stoves (110 Liter pot) 3. Mary's meals - 196 stoves ( 20 liter
pots up to 150 Liter pots)
At the moment another 500 stoves for 50 liter pots are under production for
UNICEF. They are not delivered yet, we'll put them in the 2007 count.
A simple calculation to see how many people, many children are reached with
this years stoves:
1000 stoves
X
100 liter (average capacity)
X
3 ( three people per liter maize porridge)
--------
300 000 people are eating food from the rocket stoves produced in 2006.
Hope this info can be entered in your 2006 stove production list.
Best regards from the warm heart of Africa, Andi

Dear List,
We have seen many new and improved prototype and demonstration stoves on the
list this year but stoves are only effective if they are built and used. To
get an idea of how many stoves are being built in different areas we'd like
to develop a list of this year's "production."
What stoves have been built in large quantities this year? Where? How many?
And by what organizations? Contact? Any number qualifies.
We'll put the list on the web with links to information about the stoves.
Examples:
Anagi, Sri Lanka, 300,000, Integrated Development Association (IDEA),
R.M.Amerasekera New Lao Bucket, Cambodia, ??, GERES/Cambodia Fuel Savings
Program (CFSP), Sixbricks, Uganda, ??, Aprovecho/AID Africa, Ken Goyer
Upesi, Kenya, ??
