[Stoves] cost of stoves

See: "The Anagi Story" in Glow Magazine from ARECOP
http://www.arecop.org/publications/glow/zip/glow200011vol22.pdf

This story demonstrates that while stove production and dissemination
requires a determined and organized effort, high volume production can be
integrated into existing social and economic structures. We have heard
similar stories from ARTI in India.

It will be interesting to see what stoves Grameen Shakti chooses for its
microfinance-based stove promotion in Bangladesh and how they will be
produced.

What solutions will be found for high volume mass production of metal or
ceramic stoves and how will they "fit" into social and economic structures?
The Shell (Rocket), Philips and Woodgas stoves are clearly headed for high
volume manufacture in modern production facilities and marketed like other
household appliances. What about the Maputo Ceramic Stove, Sixbricks, or
other designs that can be made from molded ceramic components?

More challenges for 2007. . .

Happy Holidays

Jeff,
Certainly the highest quality comes out of the most responsive and
accountable producer--and that is almost always the producer who is
most exposed to their own community of consumers...
That's the fundamental premise. Blend in the increasing cost of
transport due to peak oil /and environmental regulation and, the
power of the internet for marketing, and you have this interesting
new inversion of the traditional or even the globalised devolution of
corporate commercial model.
Ideas shared globally but products produced locally..
Co-vention not invention, becomes the convention.
