Dear Fuelish Friends

Frans has a list which I amend as follows

PARAFFIN WAX is C30 H62

C12 H26 is KEROSENE or PETROL in France or PARAFFIN in many countries.
It is C9 to C20 is South Africa. SA supplies a lot of other countries with zero-sulphur paraffin.
JET FUEL (JP) is paraffin with antifreeze added.

C7 H16 is BENZIN or NAPTHA

C 14 H 30 is DIESEL OIL
C16 to C22 is DIESEL OIL in make places. The content of diesel is varied with the seasons because it freezes in winter.
FUEL OIL is the same thing as diesel, coloured differently and sold at a different price. It is also called HEATING OIL.

Kevin adds:
BUNKER FUEL = a type of oil used in ships that has to be heated to flow.
BUNKER C = one the grades of Bunker Oil
#6 Oil = ?
FURNACE OIL = Heating Oil
STOVE OIL = Kerosene
FUEL OIL = Heating Oill
LAMP OIL = Kerosene
NAPTHA = NAPTHA
BENZINE = a name given variously to gasoline (IRAN) and other fuels. Real Benzini is really carcinogenic.
#1 Oil =
#2 Oil =
KEROSINE = Kerosene
GASOLINE = Petrol (UK) and other different names.

The important ones for us are paraffin and bio-paraffin, diesel and bio-diesel. These can be easily used in stoves. Note that diesel overlaps paraffin by a lot, in some countries diesel being a sub-set of the different permissible paraffin chains.

Regards
Crispin
