Just in late for the rains today and read your posts from this week.

I completely agree that the products/CO should be raised up off the fuel
bed.
A good while back Paul Anderson was puzzling some oil in clay [how did
that work out do you know?] in Bolivia I think it was.
My uncle used to heat cement sand with bricks soaked in heating fuel to
keep ash out.
At the time I started thinking about a set of fences just a few inches
apart filled with the fuel and the fire below and on both sides.
In regards to the conical pile you have been referring to [VS the
central draft] it occurs to me that the answer might be found by making
2 cages/fences to allow air over both inner and outer surfaces.
Do you know if this has been tried and if there were results available?

Conical cages might be a bit tricky but for just a few tests not so bad.
I will make some cages over the weekend.
Absent any specialized equipment how confident can we be that a blue
flame is the CO burning?
