[Stoves] RE: Durability of Stainless Steel

Dear Tom and Das,

It would be great if you could send instructions on the most practical
metal-ceramic combinations. We are involved in large scale stove projects
and could put this knowledge into stoves right away.

All Best,

Dean

Dear Dean:

Das is quite expert in metal-ceramic insulation combinations.

Kaowool fibers melt > 1600 C. There are various solutions which bond it
well to metal and could protect the "tincanium".

Part of the problem is that the rocket produces an oxidizing atmosphere,
while in our stove the gas is reducing except where secondary air injection
projects the flame away from the walls.

Onward,

Dear Tom,

Unfortunately,

Tincanium can last less than two weeks in a Rocket type stove that is used
to make three meals a day. Temperatures in a Rocket can reach about 1000C.

Wish it would last! It would make manufacturing so much simpler...

Best,

Dean
