Kevin and all,

Nobody has devised a way to make it continuous AND be T-LUD (top-lit updraft,
with burning of pyrolysis gases and ususally leaving of char behind).

BUT that does not mean that the batches are small. Alex English about 6 years
ago made a large unit, and now Alexis Belonio in the Philippines has a large
unit that I think he is ready to sell. That unit has 2 T-LUD fuel chambers
that allow of "sequential batching" that is not quite the same as being a
continous feeding of fuel. The use of 2 fuel containers to keep fire
under the
pot has been noted for a few years.

Personally, I am working on a continuous feed gasifier (derived from what I
showed at the ETHOS meeting this past January), but it is NOT a T-LUD. It is
essentially an updraft gasifier. I will be taking a better version of it to
the Stove Camp in August, and will also be showing it at the small-gasifier
workshop in China in July. (I booked my flights, but am still hoping for some
sponsorship/assistance instead of 100% my personal money.) Workshop info at:
www.arecop.org

There are to be 10 to 15 Chinese cookstove gasifiers at that meeting, plus
Alexis Belonio and several Indian experts. There seems to be much more
interest in small gasifiers for cookstoves and cottage industry in Asia
than in
the other regions. I am hoping to work with several of them on
ARECOP-sponsored
applications for small industry / cottage industry.
