A couple of weeks ago Christa Roth (GTZ/IFSP Malawi) raised the question of
durable pot rests for low cost stoves when she asked Dr. Reddy about his
"Good Stove":

"Are there any [pot rests]? How do you ensure the airflow around the pot? I
have seen too many mudstoves with worn-out potrests out of mud to favor a
mud-based solution, unless you are in a culture where maintance is carried
out regularly. We are experimenting in Malawi with fired ceramic plates
including the potrests, as the concept of maintenance is not really
widespread, but of course that increases the costs."

Her dream is to find a "cheap version of rocket stoves, but that is
low-maintenance, where at least the dimension are kept and the potrests are
out of a pre-shaped, more resistant material."

What is being done in other areas to make low cost, durable pot rests?
