Dear Tom and Lanny,

Lanny's concept reminds me of sawdust burning stoves in which sawdust is
rammed around a tube which is then removed. The cylinder is set on fire from
below. Wood gas is sucked into the burning 1.5 inch in diameter cylinder 12
inches high. Because the walls of the cylinder are burning the gas is all
burned up resulting in very low emissions...for 30 minutes...then the
cylinder starts to collapse and things become smoky.

I'll try Lanny's idea with charcoal tomorrow and report back. More than one
way to skin a cat!

Best,

Dean

See www.bioenergylists.org <http://www.bioenergylists.org/> for Lanny's
center fire burner module concept applied to wood burning. Like the Henson
Center Fire Charcoal Burner he creates a central flue and thin fuel bed.

These concepts are great. It's clear that they could be the burner "element"
for a stove. The central fire burner module spreads the fuel out and
provides radiation within the central flue. Modify the air a bit and add to
the combustion chamber to burn off the volatiles and you have an interesting
burner.

Thanks, Lanny, for sharing your creative ideas.

Tom Miles
