Thank You for your comments. I am very impressed with the analytical and
critical thinking skills of members of this list. Some are so perceptive I
feel like they are looking over my shoulder, like Ron Larson use to do.
There were several points made that were useful to me. I will try to comment
more about them this week end.
About my work,
I did not have any luck supplying secondary combustion air from the
sides/top so I thought that I would try through the center.
I saw the central hole in the sawdust stove and how Richard Staneys holly
briquette radiated high temps.
I thought that to make center fire work it will be necessary,
to maintain the hole as the fuel collapses,
and maintain the hole without interfering with the irradiative effect,
and create air flow that sneaks enough oxygen past the fuel so that it makes
it to the top.
Early prototypes produce clear exhaust but I do not have the equipment for
proper testing. I hope Dean Still and others will duplicate and test the
burners.
This week end I plan to,
Control combustion and secondary air while trying to maintain clear exhaust.
Do something at the top for mixing.
Do something at the top to help control combustion and secondary air.
I may try to focus* the supply air to assure that oxygen makes it to the
top.
* When air flows through a tube 6 time longer that the diameter, it has time
to line up somehow and can be projected over a longer distance. This is an
old rule of thumb.
Thanks again for the critical thinking and feel free to shoot this idea
down, if you can.
It can better to get rid of a bad idea than it is to have a good idea!
We will see!
