Stovers and ETHOS participants,

I had the great pleasure of attending the SIFAT conference in Alabama last week.
Others who have attended ETHOS in the past and were at the SIFAT conference
were Larry Winiarski, Don O'Neal, and Stuart Conway.

I had planned to give a report to the Listserve, but I leave in 10 minutes to
the airport to go to Cambodia for 4 weeks for gasifier stove work with GERES
and CPSF.

But there is one item that should be mentioned so that it can be considered in
the planning for the ETHOS meeting. At the SIFAT Conference (same duration as
ETHOS meetings, but was Thurs evening, plus Friday and Saturday), the lighting
of the stoves was held on the late afternoon of the middle day of the meeting
(Friday at SIFAT, but would correspond to Saturday at ETHOS).

This arrangement gave time for people to see and operate functional stoves and
still have a whole day for further comments and discussions. I believe that
that arrangement was a major plus for people to see the new stoves and for
newcomers to see the existant stoves in operation.

Timetable could be: Move on Saturday to the stoves lighting about 3 PM, end at
5 or 5:30, eat dinner, and return for the evening discussion session at 6:30 or
7 or whatever.

At SIFAT, some of the evening food was cooked on the functioning stoves!!!!

A copy of this message is going to Mrs. Kathy Bryson who headed the SIFAT
conference. I hope she joins the Stoves or ETHOS listservs soon, but until
then please be sure to include her in your replies.

I hope the Larry and Don and Stuart and Lois O'Neal and Kathy send in some
comments about this suggestion.

Off to the airport,

Paul
