Hi,
I'm new to the list and so have a basic basic set of
questions. I have to say you guys are way more
enjoyable than first year chem and physics where I
learned absolutely nothing. Here I'm learning and
fascinated with the knowlege you all bring to the
discussion!
I was recently questioned on whether one needs
"mortar" between the bricks of the rocket stove bench
(where you cob over the "exit flue") I answered,
maybe incorrectly, that the mortar acts as an
expansion joint as the firebrick is heated fairly
fast. Also that it's pretty important part of the
design. Is that correct?
I was also questioned about the need for an "ash pit"
that is slightly below the tunnel. The ash pit is
where the burn takes place at the end of the fuel
magazine. This design has it all vertical (the fuel)
instead of horizontal. Does anyone know the why and
whatfor of the ashpit located there? I'll say that
the design we're working off of does NOT have an
adjustable fuel magazine or grate.
Thanks!!
Copper
