Dear Paul

It was a very good explanation of air supply. I agree that DD mode is
difficult to do on a small scale.

A Vesto (there is more than one form of a Vesto) is able to switch between
the charcoal making and charcoal burning modes with a lever. Some stoves
can be 'banked' (air shut off) to burn very slowly through the night, for
example. The thing is the old ones are not doing this to create gas for
remote burning so they have to have chimneys and they smoke.

Your explanation serves to explain well why it is worth taking the trouble
(ie. make parts) to be able to go between wood burning, charcoal gasifying
and charcoal making modes in a stove. The 'deliverables' are 'control',
'turn down ratio' and 'clean burning'.

In my experience close coupling the gas burning to the gas generating is
more reliable if the stove is small.

Regards
Crispin
