There was some discussion as to whether lignin was better than cellulose as
a source of charcoal. An NGO in Maharashtra State in India is using our
charring kiln in order to char waste paper sorted out from the city garbage.
Paper, which is mainly cellulose, yields about 30 percent char by weight
when heated to a temperature between 300 and 400 degrees Celsius.
