Dear STOVERS ,
Make yourself a labtest !
Prepare 0,1 MOL=1N HCL ( 3,6 g/L ) and 0,1 MOL=1N NaOH ( 4g/l )
solution .
1 MOL HCl neutralises 1 MOL NaOH Purple indicator Phenoloftaleïne .
5 g Sample + HCL -------> CO2 gas .
,leading the escaping CO2 into 100 ml NaOH 0,1 N .
Titrate restant NaOH+ indicator with HCl and calculate carbon from
carbonate .
Carbon burnable : 5 g sample in creused heated at 850 deg C + Na
NO3 1g
Gives CO2 leaded in 100 ml NaOH gives Na2CO3 .
Restant NaOH + indicator titrated with HCl .
Calculate the CARBON out carbonate .
12g C= 44gCO2=2X 36,5 g HCl=2X 40g NaOH
2X = valence of C03- carbonate .
CO2 in fine bubbles into NaOH dissolves .
