Stovers, especially to Dean and Nordica
In my quest to for a reasonable set of instruments, I have many questions.
So I thought a good starting place would be to have info about the portable
testing kit that Aprovecho has shown at ETHOS and has mentioned as becoming for
sale probably in the $3000 to $5000 range. Much depends on what is in the kit,
and if individual pieces might be sufficient for some test purposes. How is
that project progressing.
If you would please give a list of the instruments and what they measure, that
would be a great starting point. Then we all could discuss the individual
details, with additions and alternatives.
On the other hand, anyone from the list could mention an important measurement
AND give specifics of instruments that accomplish the job.
Here is an example:
Subject: Instruments for: fuel moisture
Fuel moisture can be measured with a sensitive scale (2 gram precision as in my
Walmart kitchen scale??). Weight initial, and then dry the sample, and weight
final.
But there are instruments also. See for a sample:

Are these instruments any good? A cheap $25 model (Sonin Rapitest model number
50211) from Menards hardware store does not have sufficient sensitivity to
detect moisture differences in wood, even though it claims to be for wood.
Any suggestions?
Paul
