Frank and all,

I have taken an Aladdin lantern, removed the cloth wick for liquid fuel, and
sent the woodgas up to the burner. Some flame, but not anything good. I did
this with alcohol vapors from a modified alcohol burner, and also from my
T-LUDs, which are producing very raw woodgas. There are problems getting the
gases to flow through small tubes, but in general I have not had major
problems
with blockages from tars. But my tests are of short duration and not repeated
many times and I avoid the devices with very small orifices.

The main issue that has bothered me is to get the secondary air to come in
adequately and vigorously. I have shot forced air from small blowers into
every hole I could think of or create. No meaningful success except to learn
what seems to not work.
