Dear Crispin,
Angle is a useful variable but first lets define two groups of materials
(or feedstock). The traditional material is dust or powder. Here we will
find much information concerning agglomerating this group of material.
Yes, angle is an important variable along with the type of agglomerator,
binder, amount of liquid binder added (and where), dwell time and the list
goes on.
I have no intention of turning my back on charcoal dust or even coal dust
(etc) but I feel that the real future is in agglomerating fibers like
manures, grasses, algae, paper/waste and the list goes on. I have found
very little information about this, only hints of it. I had to rely on
older books for my research because some of the modern ones cost up to
$600 USA. Maybe, if someday I have the time, I could try to see if the
library can get some of them. So the Rock & Roll method is what emerged.
The rock & roll method is a blend of the ball mill and the agglomerator. A
cement mixer will work but I do not feel it is optimal. SOMEDAY I would
like to see a ball mill reducing the material and breaking it up into
agglomeration and with the aid of the proper angle the
agglomerations/fireballs would feed into a drum agglomerator/shaper for
final shaping and maybe some drying.
Best wishes,
Jeff
