Subject: Anticlines and synclines from ken
Dear friends, Sorry to trouble you with this correction, but my geologist
friend Joe, who is usually drilling for hot water, actually read my email
and sent me this correction.
"Ken: It appears your geology may be a little rusty. I think you mean
anticline, not syncline."
So I got it backwards. The idea is that the earth bows up and forms a dome
which traps oil. I recalled Signal Hill in Long Beach, California and
everyone has heard of the Teapot Dome scandle. So upward bulges are
anticlines and downward bulges are synclines. Clever people are good at
deciding whether upward bulges have oil underneath. Thanks Joe.
Today is Friday and a Holy day so no one works, officially at least. So
we went to the houses of our two brickmakers and built stoves for their
families. The stoves are "wet" and so in a day or two we will return and
give them some follow up training. We have given the brick makers permission
to build as many stoves as they like. In the afternoon we went with our
friends to the market and ate meat. Nothing else, just meat, lambs meat. It
was very good but we are hoping we don't get any sicker than we already are.
This is the first time we have dared to eat in some place that would fail
all western sanitation standards but at least the meat is cooked.
Best regards. Ken
