I fail to see how any energy is "lost" because all the work done by
the heat engine ends up in the stove.
Even given that, I don't believe you can have a Stirling that has a
good thermal to motive energy conversion because the more thermally
efficient you make it, with better heat exchange surfaces, the worse
thermodynamic performance arises from the inevitable lower expansion
ratio. But I am open to a better understanding of the science.
