[Stoves] Changing rate of pyrolysis front in TLUDs

Dear Tom
There is method in my madness.
Once the stove gets tall enough to work, it will become a real problem
because of its height. I will then propose to make it a downdraft gasifier
with an updrafting tall chamber and it will work really well without a fan.
And...you will be able to refuel it from the top of the fuel bin, and a
whole new generation of stoves will be made that don't have to be emptied to
continue cooking. This is my secret project for 2008.
But don't tell Paul just yet! He is still getting to 'discover' it by
himself! Keep this between you and me and the people who subscribe to
STOVES.
I can make a honking great box full of coconut husks and light the bottom
corner, close it and cook for ages on a standard height stove surface
because the updraft of the internal chimney will be high enough to feed the
air properly. If necessary, I can dig a hole in the floor. Basic math: for
every foot I go down I gain more than 1/2 a foot of draft because it is
hotter on the way up than it is on the way down.

Crispin,
Some of Paul's TLUD's are pretty tall already. Are you going to put the cook
on a stepladder? :-)
