Stovers,

I hope many of us can attend Stove Camp 2007!!!!

I cannot yet say for sure if I can attend, but it is at least possible.

One comment about the competition. I believe the competition should
not require
that the entries be designed and constructed while at Stove Camp. The results
become "crude approximations of what is possible", not stoves that
could become
products in the field.

On-site construction was not a requirement in previous years. The Champion
Stove (2005) came from Bolivia. The Philips stove and the Reed stove (2006)
were commercially produced. Aprovecho has many many stoves on display,
and the
originators of those stoves (or persons with permission from the originators)
should be allowed to use them as they are or as modified, and other attendees
should be allowed to bring stoves with them.

I do like the requirement for natural draft. Question: If used for only a
short period and if it is NOT electrical, could manually driven small fans or
blowers be used as long as it is known to those present who will do the
judging?

Also, please define the aspects of the testing. In 2006 the test under
the hood
was with only 3 liters and 30 minutes of simmering. But in 2005 it was
5 liters
and 45 minutes of simmering.

Also, can fuel other than the "official wood" be used as long as it is
"reasonable and common", again to be noted by the judging participants? For
example, wood chips without any special characteristics.

Who else is considering attending (no obligation, just an indication),
and would
you have a stove in the competition?

Comments from Dean and others would be appreciated.

Paul
