Hi Anil
This looks very interesting and covers a good deal of territory on rural
energy issues.
My only caution would be the emphasis one the "High technology". It may not
be the best approach to rural development. I like the Chinese approach of
"step by step". It's also good to see technologies where there is
sophistication in simplicity rather than taking the road of high technology.
That's how we got stuck in a focus on liquid biofuels in North America and
nuclear reactors for power generation.
In bioenergy development the approach that brings us the most energy
recovery is matching biomass quality with the end use application and keep
it as local as possible as bioenergy is a disperse resource. I am yet to be
convinced where biomass is disperse, the big bioenergy refinery concept is
at all workable from a financial or energy standpoint.
Regards
Roger Samson

I am giving a public lecture on 21st March at the Patel Center in University
of South Florida in Tampa (http://www.patelcenter.usf.edu/events/). This
