Dear Crispin,
Thank you very much for your suggestions for improving the Avan Stove
http://e-avanstove.blogspot.com/ . Yes I will make the necessary changes and
I will share the results. If possible please send me the links to David
Hancock's 1980's model. Although I tested the stove for more than 3 hours
this hazard of fire finding its way back into the fuel magazine was not
observed. In this model the angle of feed was 45 deg. at what angle it is
hazardous?
When I used the sticks, which could not restrict the primary air flow, the
fire was intense and high. But when I used the dryleaves, because of
restricted primary air the flames were very much controlled. Therefore I
wanted to use a cover for the feed magazine to restrict the primary air.
As the feeding mechanism is semi-automatic because of gravity, it needs less
attended. I feel this model is more suitable for small restaurants using
biomass as fuel.
Yes it is a nice idea to give an angle to the secondary air to spin the
upper fire and to reduce the secondary air holes by half. I will try the
dung cakes too.
Thanking you once again,
Dr. Sai Bhaskar Reddy
