Dear colleagues,

During the recent PTA Meeting, ARECOP Network reviewed its progress against various challenges posed by biomass and household energy programs at the national and regional levels. The meeting was attended by representatives from ARECOP country contact points, ARECOP partners and regional experts. We believe that the review has further consolidated the network in its program orientation and activities, in order to better address the challenges ahead, for the rest of ARECOP Phase III period (which terminates at the end of 2007, with possible extension to the end of 2008). A brief overview of the meeting is featured in this edition of LFS.

Another international gathering of stove and cooking technologies practitioners was also being conducted by Engineer in Technical and Humanitarian Opportunities of Services (ETHOS), a group based in Iowa State University, at about the same time as the PTA Meeting. We are catching up with the news of the gathering and the proceeding of the meeting, which is available in ETHOS’ website.

This edition of LFS is also pleased to bring up the news on the successful carbon financing scheme on improved cookstove program in Cambodia, carried out by Wood Energy Network of Cambodia and GERES-Cambodia.

We are also catching up on various updates on national level activities - on ICS commercialization in the Philippines, the student support program carried out by ICS Network of Nepal and activities on improved stove, kitchen improvement and improved brick kiln technologies in Sri Lanka.
