Hi Tami,

Although we have never meet, I am familiar with some of your work.

My name is David and I live and work in Bolivia with a nonprofit
organization called CEDESOL. Like many, we interact with numerous orgs
and individuals to learn as well as share what we've encountered during
the course of trying to reduce indoor air pollution and reduce
environmental degregation.

We are consulting to the testing lab here at the University that is
finally getting off the ground and since 2003 we have been trying to
apply the testing methods learned from this group to our own stove
development program. Since 2004, the first thing our ETHOS volunteers
learn to do here is make tests on our solar, efficient wood and retained
heat cookers. That has the double purpose of helping them learn how and
why things work to begin "tweaking" them.

I am very interested in the topic of stove testing and in having
something like benchmark test for our "industry" and would like to be
considered as a participant on the ETHOS Committee on Standards and
Methods. We (siendo portador de los conocimientos de la CEDESOL) can
"at least" help the group to be aware of a developing country perspective.

I am also in favor of developing regional testing sites and comparing
results. I see the stage set for exponential growth of stove
dissemination world wide in the next few years as VERs and CDM takes its
"proper" shape to include more small projects. Standards should be a
priority for our "industry".
